Jessica Miller – A Trilogy Growth Story

May 27, 2016

By Team Trilogy

At Trilogy, we believe in growing our own. Many of our nearly 14,000 employees across Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan have inspiring growth stories. One such employee is Jessica Miller, Customer Service Specialist at The Springs at Lafayette. We asked her to share her story and a little bit about why she loves working at a Trilogy Health Services campus. Her words are below. We hope they inspire you as much as they inspired us!

“To quote a brilliant man, ‘I have a dream.’ Like Dr. King’s dream of the future, my dream shares similar ideals, as well as a vision of humanitarianism. My dream is that our elderly, the people who have been responsible for such brilliant changes in the world, who lived and fought for our country in wars or lost children in battles, who survived tragedies such as The Great Depression, could continue to enjoy the lifestyle that they deserve while still receiving the care that they require. My dream is that this wonderful, knowledgeable, and deserving generation of people will be able to enjoy the later years of their lives in comfort, surrounded by people who love and care about them.

I began my journey in healthcare as a CNA in a long-term care facility 10 years ago, and I’ve never looked back. I joined the Trilogy team 7 years into my life as a caregiver. Trilogy shares the same values, the same vision, and the same dream as I do. They’ve implemented standards that reach towards this vision, and strive to make sure that their residents enjoy an exceptional quality of life while providing them with the best care. From fulfilling the dreams of their residents (such as sharing lunch with President George Bush!) to the small, special things they do every day (like their campus Happy Hours), Trilogy’s standards and practices serve one purpose – serving their residents. I am beyond blessed to work for a company whose dream mirrors my own.

During the course of my career, I’ve witnessed incredible things. I’ve watched with a warm and happy heart as a 100-year-old woman boarded a plane to Disney World and received her wings in honor of her first flight. I’ve stood at bedsides and mourned quietly as a cherished resident passed away. I’ve held the hand of a spouse and her daughter as they sat vigil next to their husband and father as he passed into the next world. I’ve shimmied and shook in the middle of a hallway alongside a resident who loved Elvis. I felt so full of purpose when I heard her laugh. I’ve been the granddaughter of an Alzheimer’s patient. I’ve been taught the absolute best gravy recipe by a 93-year-old man. I’ve been given advice on how to make a marriage work by a couple celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary. I go to work each day with the single goal of making each of my residents’ lives the best they could possibly be for as long as they are with me. My heart is full from all of the times I laughed with them, cried with them, or was able to comfort them.”

Trilogy is lucky to have Jessica and many others like her working with us to care for our residents. If you or a loved one would like to experience the kind of care Jessica offers, please contact one of our campuses. And if you, like Jessica, would like to work for a company that offers so much more than just a paycheck, visit our careers page and apply today. We’re waiting to serve you!
