At the 2018 NAHCA Annual Conference, Violet Howard from Cedar Ridge Health Campus in Cynthiana, KY was named Preceptor of the Year! Recipients must demonstrate the qualities necessary to successfully train new CNAs/ALCs. These qualities are: patience, compassion, knowledge of job skills, nurturing attitude, positive outlook, and good communication skills which are necessary for effective instruction.
When the award was announced at the conference, here’s what they had to say about Violet: “Violet has been on the Cedar Ridge team for 12 years and jumped at the chance to train new CNAs. It doesn’t matter if the weather is bad on training days or any other days she is needed, she will come to work the night before and spend the night to ensure excellence in training is consistent. And if the campus needs additional hands, she is there whenever and wherever she is needed. She is so amazing and CNAs go to her for advice, guidance and training. Violet has no ego when it comes to training and caring for the residents. She jumps in and does whatever it takes and motivates others to do the same. Congratulations Violet for receiving Preceptor of the Year!”
