So much good to say about the Willows staff, facility and my dads progress! The most recent was the superb Mother’s Day Brunch! My gosh! The administrative staff and nurses, as well as the rest of the staff were serving residents and their families. The delicious brunch included numerous main dishes, quiche, homemade corn beef hash, roast beef, shrimp cocktail, salads, an array of deserts including a make your own strawberry and pineapple chocolate fondue! Then there were the extras like personally delivered carnations, lots of waiter service, and beautifully set tables. In addition, seeing so many family members attending for free, made me so happy! It was great to experience the genuine care of the staff for the residents and their families. When I came to the Willows in Okemos I immediately noticed the welcoming decor in the lobbies, and the dining rooms looking like restaurants, always set and ready for customers. I felt I was in a clean, modern, well cared for facility. More importantly, the staff made my father and I feel completely comfortable from the first encounter. That feeling has continued throughout my dads care. Having visited daily for several weeks I have found that the staff answer to my dads needs promptly, within minutes, which is important for him due to his medical condition. Nurses have been approachable, knowledgeable and responsive as well as kind and caring. Many times I have found nurses willing to personally attend to my dad’s daily cares. I have seen nurses and aides go out of their way to help my dad get over a rough spot that I didn’t know how to handle. The kindness and caring of the aides towards my dad makes me feel secure that my dad is in the right place. Add to that the well recommended PT and OT staff who seem to know just what my dad is capable of doing to make progress during his rehab stay. I appreciate the smiles and good cheer when I visit my dad. And a big thanks to the whole staff for being so caring.
