My mother is at the Willows, and it is working out very well for her. It is a new facility. It is small. I meet the staff every day. They are perfect, and we have no complaints whatsoever. The rooms and the dining area are excellent and very nice. I have had several meals there, and the food is good. They have a chef, and they have lots of choices. They have activities, but my mother didn’t participate in a lot. It is in a nice location with woods surrounding it. I will recommend them. They work very well with the residents and the family.

My dad has been at the Willows more than a year, in assisted living, and he is happy there. I have no big complaints–it seems fine as far as I can tell. My dad is in a wheelchair but alert. I would recommend the Willows to others and hope I live in a place as good when I get old.-1 star because- they put in a system where residents can view emails, including pictures and videos, on their TVs. But my dad can’t remember how to use it. I asked repeatedly that the staff would check for new messages regularly and show them. But they don’t so he only sees them when a friend or personal helper comes in.

My dad was transitioned from the hospital to The Willows of Okemos after suffering a massive heart attack. From the first day until day 30 when he went home, the staff was exceptional. My dad is pretty reserved on handing out kudos, but he raved about his stay. He enjoyed the scheduled activities and especially the food. He had almost no appetite when he arrived and was soon eating three meals a day and gained the weight back he needed to help him in his recovery. While visiting hours were limited due to COVID restrictions, we felt confident that he was in good hands when we were unable to be there with him. When we returned each day he had a story to tell from the night before and knew the staff and many residents by name. That goes a very long way in his mental health having a sense of community away from home. Thank you to the great team at The Willows for being so professional and kind and for going out of your way to make his stay a memorable one. He received great rehab and was strong enough to walk out of there today!

So much good to say about the Willows staff, facility and my dads progress! The most recent was the superb Mother’s Day Brunch! My gosh! The administrative staff and nurses, as well as the rest of the staff were serving residents and their families. The delicious brunch included numerous main dishes, quiche, homemade corn beef hash, roast beef, shrimp cocktail, salads, an array of deserts including a make your own strawberry and pineapple chocolate fondue! Then there were the extras like personally delivered carnations, lots of waiter service, and beautifully set tables. In addition, seeing so many family members attending for free, made me so happy! It was great to experience the genuine care of the staff for the residents and their families. When I came to the Willows in Okemos I immediately noticed the welcoming decor in the lobbies, and the dining rooms looking like restaurants, always set and ready for customers. I felt I was in a clean, modern, well cared for facility. More importantly, the staff made my father and I feel completely comfortable from the first encounter. That feeling has continued throughout my dads care. Having visited daily for several weeks I have found that the staff answer to my dads needs promptly, within minutes, which is important for him due to his medical condition. Nurses have been approachable, knowledgeable and responsive as well as kind and caring. Many times I have found nurses willing to personally attend to my dad’s daily cares. I have seen nurses and aides go out of their way to help my dad get over a rough spot that I didn’t know how to handle. The kindness and caring of the aides towards my dad makes me feel secure that my dad is in the right place. Add to that the well recommended PT and OT staff who seem to know just what my dad is capable of doing to make progress during his rehab stay. I appreciate the smiles and good cheer when I visit my dad. And a big thanks to the whole staff for being so caring.

My Mother’s recovery has been the absolute best! The staff at The Willows of Okemos is phenomenal! They treat their patients with the utmost care and respect. My Mother is so happy with the care she receives. I truly don’t know what I would do without them. I highly recommend this facility! They are top notch!

My sister Ann has been a resident at the Willows of Okemos since January. You cannot believe the difference The Willows has made in her recovery. They gave me back my sister. Rehab, interactions, straightening out her meds, activities, outings and the food….wonderful! She is getting better than she has been in years. I can never thank you enough. The minute I walk into The Willows the workers, director and all the staff are helpful, have smiles on their faces and treat family and friends (along with residents) like we are long lost friends. This should be how all nursing facilities should be. So impressed and thankful for The Willows.
