When you live at a Trilogy senior living community, you know that Mother’s Day is always a cause for celebration. In the past, our campuses have bustled with special visits from family members, all uniting to celebrate their mothers on their special day. This year, however, we had to get creative.

As we all continue to get used to our new normal, perhaps the most difficult adjustment that we have had to make is to abstain from in-person visits to ur campuses. With that in mind, we knew that with Mother’s Day approaching, we had to make it unique – not just for our residents, but for the people who love them, as well. And so we did!

When the special day arrived, the mothers of our communities woke up to a special breakfast, made complete with our signature mimosas. Throughout the day, our team continued to surprise our residents with more sweet gestures, including having flowers and chocolate covered strawberries delivered to their rooms. But while gifts might be great, we knew that nothing would compare to seeing the smiling faces of family members. As the day continued on, our team prepared for the grand event.

Eventually, our residents would look outside to be greeted by a line of cars – some with signs hanging out their windows, others with sons and daughters honking their horns, and all of them filled with the grinning, occasional tearful faces of the people they love. The Mother’s Day Car Parade reminded our residents that just because their families can’t come inside, doesn’t mean that they can’t come by.

Along with the flowers, the champagne, the strawberries, and the parade, our campus team members had also been working hard collecting videos from family members using OneDay – our go-to video message application. Using this technology, even though our mothers couldn’t talk to their loved ones in person, they could watch and listen as their children, grandchildren, and family pets shared their messages of love.

There’s no doubt about it that COVID-19 has made some normal days hard, and some special days even harder. However, at Trilogy, we believe in finding the the light in the darkness, and shining that light on those that we serve. Thank you to everyone who made this possible on Mother’s Day, and thank you to all of our mothers for all that you do!
