Louisville, KY (June 23 2011) Light streams in from windows in the cupola, hitting the clock tower and benches in the center of the Town Square. Around the Square, living rooms, a bistro, and a sunroom offer places to sit and visit, bake a batch of cookies or enjoy a moment’s relaxation. Watercolor painting, gardening, foreign language classes and discussion of current events are just a few choices on the day’s agenda. All of this is just a small sample of what seniors in eastern Jefferson County and the surrounding areas have to choose from with today’s opening of Westport Place Health Campus, Louisville’s newest alternative for senior health and living needs.

Westport Place offers a full continuum of senior living and related health care services, including short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, memory care and assisted living; all offered in a homelike setting that features an abundance of private rooms, chef-prepared meals, and services specially tailored to meet residents’ individual preferences. Westport Place is the fourth Trilogy Health Services community in Jefferson County, joining Glen Ridge Health Campus, Park Terrace Health Campus and Franciscan Health Care Center.

According to Randall Bufford, President and CEO of Trilogy, “Our commitment to a servant leadership culture and our dedication to providing exceptional customer service that exceeds our customers’ expectations are the cornerstones of Trilogy’s operating philosophy. When you have great services, delivered by a dedicated and compassionate team of caregivers in our ‘Town Square’ residential model, the result is a senior living experience that allows our residents to live a truly meaningful life.”

“We like to say you can feel the difference the minute you walk through the doors of one of our campuses, and you see it everywhere you look,” Bufford continued. “From staff engagement and our focus on resident personal preferences, to the local flavors on our menus, and even the names given to our different residential hallways – everything at a Trilogy campus is focused on our customers’ preferences and helping them have strong social connections, and engagement and purpose, while providing options for clinical care.”

Community members are invited to an Open House at Westport Place Health Campus on Sunday, June 26, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Westport Place is located at 4247 Westport Road in Louisville, across from Walden School.

“We are thrilled to be serving residents of eastern Jefferson County and the surrounding communities,” said Suzanne Rinne, Executive Director of Westport Place. “While there has been significant hospital construction in this part of town over the last few years, there have been few new senior health services added during that same time period. We look forward to bringing our exceptional approach to resident care and services to seniors in this part of town, and we think the community is excited about it as well.”

George Becker, whose mother will be one of the first residents of the campus commented, "My wife and I are excited about the opportunity to move my mom into the brand new Westport Place Health Campus. Not only is it exciting to see such a move from the sterile, hospital-like setting, but [the campuses’] attitude towards recreation, activities, and quality of life is exactly what we've been looking for.”

Westport Place Health Campus features private suites with private baths, and numerous living rooms where residents can relax and visit with guests. The resident living areas are organized into neighborhoods, allowing caregivers and residents to truly get to know each other and establish long-term relationships. That same resident-centered focus is carried through to activity planning, menu selection and other campus programs.

Establishing relationships with community members is also a top priority for the new campus. “We’ve had a wonderful opportunity to interact with and get to know the students from Walden School,” continued Ms. Rinne. “Several classrooms toured the campus during construction, with several students expressing an interest in spending time with our residents once school is back in session. We welcome all of our neighbors to stop by our Open House on June 26 to tour our campus and meet our team members.”

During the Ribbon Cutting, Trilogy Health Services also presented a check in the amount of $40,270.00 to Dare To Care. The contribution came from Trilogy’s Home Office staff who participated in the company’s Independence From Hunger food drive this month. Trilogy’s Independence from Hunger Food Drive was a company-wide initiative in which each of the company’s communities participated; each designating their own local food bank as the recipient. In 2010, the company as a whole was able to donate nearly 270,000 pounds of food to very worthy local charities. In 2009, Trilogy’s food drive raised just over 134,000 pounds of food companywide.

“Tens of thousands of Kentuckiana families struggle for the food they need. Thousands of senior citizens, some of our most vulnerable neighbors, worry each day how they will get the nutrition they need to stay healthy. With its remarkably successful annual food and funds drive, Trilogy Health Services demonstrates commitment, dedication, and passion for these families and seniors. Trilogy’s unique support for Dare to Care’s efforts is inspirational.

Dare to Care Food Bank is a local, nonprofit agency with a mission to lead the community to feed the hungry and conquer the cycle of need. In the past year, Dare to Care distributed 15 million pounds of food to 192,000 different people in eight Kentucky and five Indiana counties. Dare to Care also operates 12 Kids Cafes in neighborhood afterschool locations and Backpack Buddy weekend nutrition programs in 35 elementary schools. Learn more at www.daretocare.org.
