Village squares have always been a hub of activity in communities across the Midwest - a place to meet, mingle, socialize and catch up on the day’s news and happenings.

Okemos, MI (June 30 2014) Village squares have always been a hub of activity in communities across the Midwest - a place to meet, mingle, socialize and catch up on the day’s news and happenings. Friendships were forged, and communities were built through the relationships built around the village square.

Seniors in Okemos, Michigan can now experience this same sense of community with today’s opening of The Willows at Okemos, the area’s newest senior living alternative. The Willows is built on the "Village Center" residential living model created by Louisville, Kentucky-based Trilogy Health Services. The Village Center design allows residents to maximize their independence, while creating a more homelike, less-institutional atmosphere. The design features small neighborhood clusters that surround a central gathering area featuring a full-service restaurant, ice cream parlor, health club and other amenities; creating a sense of community for residents and families.

The Willows features a full continuum of senior living and related healthcare services, all offered in a homelike setting that features an abundance of private suites, chef-prepared meals, and services specially tailored to meet residents' individual preferences and achieve our goals of providing home, hospitality and healthcare. Services in the Village Center will include Assisted Living, Short-Term Rehabilitation, Skilled Nursing and Transitional Care. These options will allow the campus staff to care for a wide variety of residents - from those who need little assistance to those with complex medical needs. The Willows is located at 4830 Central Park Drive in Okemos, IN. The Willows is Trilogy’s eighth Michigan location, joining The Willows at East Lansing in serving seniors in Ingham County. Trilogy also plans to open The Willows of Howell in early 2015.

According to Randall Bufford, President and CEO of Trilogy, “Our commitment to a servant leadership culture and our dedication to providing exceptional customer service that exceeds our customers’ expectations are the cornerstones of Trilogy’s operating philosophy. When you have great services, delivered by a dedicated and compassionate team of caregivers in our ‘Village Center’ residential model, the result is a senior living experience that allows our residents to live truly meaningful lives.”

"We like to say you can feel the difference the minute you walk through the doors of one of our campuses, and you see it everywhere you look," Bufford continued. "From staff engagement and our Resident 1st philosophy, to the local flavors on our menus, and even the names given to our different residential hallways - everything at a Trilogy campus is focused on our customers' preferences and helping them have strong social connections, engagement and sense of purpose, while also providing options for all levels of healthcare."

“We are thrilled to expand our services to the residents of Lowell and the surrounding communities,” said Terri Joyce, Executive Director of The Willows at Okemos. “We look forward to bringing our exceptional approach to resident care and services to area seniors through our second Ingham County location. We invite members of the community to attend our Community Open House on Sunday, June 29, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., to take tours of our campus and meet our team of caregivers."

The Willows is already getting rave reviews from residents and family members, including Al Tulinsky, a future Willows resident. “The staff is exceptional, and I feel very lucky to have found this place to call my home,” Mr. Tulinsky commented.

Sue Odell will also be moving into The Willows. Her daughter added, “Your team has gone above and beyond to make this move easier on our family. We can’t thank you enough.”

The Willows features private suites with private baths, and numerous common areas where residents can relax and visit with guests. The resident living spaces are organized into neighborhoods, allowing caregivers and residents to truly get to know each other and establish long-term relationships. That same resident-centered focus is carried through to healthcare services, activity planning, menu selection and other campus programs.

"As part of our opening celebration, we are offering special membership in our Founder’s Club,” Joyce continued. “Membership in the Founder’s Club includes first selection of floor plan and suite location, no move in fees, and a discounted reservation fee. To qualify, you simply complete an application and put down a fully refundable deposit. We invite you to stop by our campus to learn more about the Founder’s Club and our other services.”
