Just a five-minute drive from The Willows at Harrodsburg stands what was once Eddie Montgomery’s Steakhouse, its proud, polished wooden pillars framing an entrance with floor-to-ceiling windows, inviting guests into its vast log cabin interior. Inside, vaulted ceilings and polished wood floors blend down-home hospitality with classic southern elegance. Located at 180 Lucky Man Way, this iconic building has recently been purchased by Trilogy Health Services to serve as the new site for The Willows. Excitement at the campus is building, as both residents and staff members eagerly await this much anticipated move to a new location. Details of the purchase were not disclosed.

Currently, The Willows at Harrodsburg occupies the 10,000 square foot Extended Care Wing of the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Upon moving into their new campus, residents and staff will be able to enjoy 48,320 square feet of stylish, comfortable surroundings. 32,000 feet of the new and improved health campus will be new construction, including a two-story, 38 bed Personal Care Residential Facility on the east side of the building and a single-story, 43 bed Skilled Nursing Facility on the building’s west side. The additions will provide 47 new beds, which is great news for community seniors and their families who are searching for a long-term care option that will exceed their expectations. Additional full and part-time positions will also be added to ensure that each resident receives the level of care that suits their individual needs. Architectural plans are being finalized, with construction expected to start in fall 2016, with the campus opening in late 2017.

According to Randall Bufford, President and CEO of Trilogy, “We were excited to have the opportunity to serve seniors in the Harrodsburg area when we first announced the acquisition of the Extended Care Facility at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital last year. We are thrilled that we can expand our services in a beautiful new building, as well as preserve this much cherished local landmark.”

Trilogy will carry the current building’s log cabin design into their additions, and has engaged the building’s original architect, engineer, and log cabin lumber provider. The final details of the layout are still in the works, but the senior care provider has confirmed that their trademark, five-star amenities will be well represented. The health campus will include a beauty salon/spa, a state-of-the art therapy gym, an assortment of activity rooms, and elegant spaces where residents can enjoy chef-prepared meals, served tableside. The Willows will also expand its services in the new building to offer Personal Care, Short-Term Rehabilitation, Skilled Nursing, Long-Term Care, Adult Day Services and Respite Care, allowing the campus to serve a wide variety of residents, from those who require little assistance to those with complex medical needs.

“Each Trilogy campus is built for a single purpose – to provide compassionate care and an exceptional quality of life to community seniors,” Bufford continued. “Eddie Montgomery’s provides us with the perfect foundation on which to build a senior health and hospitality campus that caters to those with high expectations. I am excited to watch our progress unfold, and eager to help welcome our current and future residents, family and staff members to their new home.”

This acquisition is part of another strong year of growth for Trilogy. In addition to expanding the services offered at four of their existing campuses in Indiana, the provider plans to open 10 new senior health and hospitality campuses (6 in Indiana, 2 in Michigan, and 2 in Ohio) in 2016. This ambitious growth reflects Trilogy’s dedication to celebrating the opening of its 150th campus by 2020.
A contractor for the project has not yet been assigned. Construction is slated to start this fall. To keep up to date on construction as it progresses, ‘Like’ The Willows at Harrodsburg on Facebook, or follow the health campus on Twitter at @W_Harrodsburg.
