Kaleidoscope Care
Kaleidoscope Care is a model of care designed to assist caregivers as they determine:
- The abilities that a person has,
- How to increase an individual’s participation in their daily care and in social functions, and,
- How to best generate personal success and positive emotions in the individual for whom they are caring.
Caregivers use an assessment tool to gauge the range of each person’s ability. Then they use the Kaleidoscope color-coded ranges of function to determine the approaches that are likely to work best for the individual. Kaleidoscope integrates the resident’s cognitive level into all aspects of care – and this tool is used by all campus staff – Caregivers, Housekeepers, Dietary staff, Physical Plant, Activities and Social Services, as well as Administration, Volunteers and Families.
The four color-coded ranges of cognitive function include: Emerald (cognitively intact), Topaz (mild cognitive impairment), Ruby (moderate cognitive impairment), and Sapphire (severe cognitive impairment).
Trilogy caregivers receive specialized training in the Kaleidoscope Model of care.
