At Trilogy, our culture is at the center of everything we do. At the center of that culture, is kindness. Whether we are interacting with our coworkers, residents, family members, or with members of our community, we do so with kindness on our minds and in our hearts. This week is International Random Acts of Kindness Week; a week in which all of us are asked to “step up our acts of kindness, be loud with our generosity, and commit to being a better person throughout the year.”
Oftentimes, it is the seniors and caregivers in our communities who are in need of a little extra kindness. Below are a few ways you can surprise these special men and women with a Random Act of Kindness this week.
- Do you have an elderly neighbor who may struggle with everyday tasks? Offer to help them with yard work or chores around the house. If you prefer cooking over cleaning, bring them a home-cooked meal to enjoy.
- Do you know a caregiver under a lot of stress? Present them with a gift card to a spa for a day of pampering or a massage, offer to run their errands for a day, or tell them about Adult Day services at one of our campuses. Their loved one will receive the best of care, while they can relax and enjoy a stress-free afternoon.
- Are you interested in volunteering? Our health campuses welcome community members who are willing to share their time and talents with our residents. Whether you can play an instrument, assist with a craft, or simply sit and chat, your presence is sure to brighten someone’s day.
Speaking of kindness, The Willows at Bellevue, our health campus in Bellevue, Ohio, truly went above and beyond to show kindness through their “Send a Hug to a Senior” event. The campus asked community members to provide contact information for a special senior in their life, and then hand-delivered flowers to their homes! Thanks to the nominations from thoughtful community members, over 100 seniors opened their doors to a surprise flower delivery (pictured above).
Whether your act of kindness is as grand as a flower delivery, or as small as a smile, try to touch at least one life this week with a random act of kindness. Even the most modest gestures can have a big impact!
