So far this year, residents have traveled “Around the World” to Ireland and France for Trilogy’s Theme Weeks. Recently, residents enjoyed another week of fun and food exploring Italy!

For our third Theme Week of the year, our Italy2photoscampuses really took our theme and ran with it! Wellbrooke of Westfield took residents on a Gondola ride along the canal courtesy of Old World Gondoliers! One of our residents, Leah, was even serenaded by their very handsome gondolier, and you can believe she enjoyed every minute of it! Cedar Creek Health Campus gave residents the chance to become a lovely (and famous) work of Italian art. Pictured as the Mona Lisa is our very own Mona - much prettier than the original if we do say so ourselves!

When the time came to celebrate our week of activities with our main Themed Dinner event, the staff really got into the spirit and dressed in everything from pizza hats to togas in celebration of the occasion. Residents enjoyed the evening in Italian boater hats and had the opportunity to take a photo in front of the Tower of Pisa. At Ashford Place Health Campus, a couple had actually visited the leaning tower during a previous trip to Italy and brought in photos to share with fellow residents.

What impressed residents the most was the care and ItalyTW7 Blogeffort our dining services staff had put into their special meal. Though we can’t name every dish, the Italian fare included Zuppa Toscana, Caprese Salad, Arancini Balls, Bruschetta and Balsamic Glazed Tilapia, Braciole-Rolled and stuffed steak, and Porcini Mushroom and Fontina Cheese Polenta to name a few. The meal was topped off by desserts such as Amaretto Tiramisu, Spumoni Ice Cream, and Blood Orange Sorbet with Moscato Berries.

All in all, we’d say our trip to Italy was a huge success. In fact, some residents think this might have been the best Theme Week yet! Now that’s amore!
