Living With Purpose

Campus: Wellbrooke of Wabash, IN

After a long time away, World War II veteran and resident of Wellbrooke of Wabash Robert P. found himself among the clouds, zooming over a crowd of fans assembled to honor past and present service men and women. A veteran of the Air Force and Air Guard, it had always been Robert’s dream to get back in the air. The Life Enrichment Team at Wellbrooke of Wabash made it happen! Thanks to the efforts of CSR Maia Brainard, Robert was chosen to kick-off the “Honoring Our Heroes” event in Wabash by making a grand entrance in a Huey 369 helicopter! Therapy Director Angela Waymire was by his side, filming the entire experience. Onlookers had tears in their eyes as they watched Robert live his dream. When he landed, he was greeted with a line of people, all waiting to shake his hand and thank him for his service. Robert was all smiles the entire afternoon and told his wife after the flight, “This is probably the most exciting day of my life!”
