Campus: The Maples at Waterford Crossing, Goshen, IN

When resident, Jan M., first arrived at The Maples, it was a very difficult transition for her. Jan’s daughter told staff that what her mother missed most were the events she used to host as owner of her own tea shop and as a party event planner. Putting their heads together, they came up with an exciting surprise for Jan. First, they created formal invitations and hand-delivered them to the ladies at the campus. Jan’s daughter secretly supplied antique china from Jan’s own collection. Dining Services created tasty savories, and Kelly Huffman, a local tea merchant, volunteered to provide a presentation as entertainment for the event. Jan became the unwitting hostess of a wonderful Afternoon Holiday Tea! She was amazed as she walked into the Tea Room. She noticed her own china among the lavishly decorated tables and immediately stepped into her old role as hostess among the large crowd of ladies in attendance. She was so overwhelmed and so happy! Throughout the afternoon, Jan never stopped smiling.
